The Aurelius varietal is a type of grape used primarily in wine production. Initially created in Germany, it's a hybrid and cross between the Seyve Villard and Riesling grapes. This provides Aurelius with the hardiness and disease resistance of hybrid grapes while still maintaining the high-quality taste found in traditional European varieties.
Aurelius wines tend to display a broad array of fruit flavours, particularly of ripe apples, peaches, and pears, along with a slight hint of honey. The wine is effectively balanced with a good level of acidity that prevents it from being overly sweet.
This varietal is often used in making both still and sparkling white wines. Additionally, due to its high resistance to frost and disease, the Aurelius grape variety can typically be grown in climates that may be too harsh for other types of grapes.
