Dry Rose is a type of wine typically characterized by its pink color, falling between red and white wine. Although generally made from red grapes, it uses a unique winemaking process that doesn't allow the juice to have much contact with the grape skins, giving it a lighter color. Contrary to some belief, Dry Rose does not contain residual sugar, making it dry instead of sweet.
In terms of flavor, a Dry Rose can have a broad spectrum depending on the grapes used. It can feature red fruit, citrus, and melon notes, with a refreshing and crisp finish. It can also encompass floral, cherry, strawberry and earthy views. This wine is known for its light to medium body, versatile pairing abilities, particularly with Mediterranean and spicy foods.
Not all Rose wines are dry; there are also sweeter rose varietals available. However, today, the production leans more towards the dry style, especially in regions like Provence in France or parts of Spain and Italy.
Always served chilled, Dry Rose is considered an excellent wine for summer, though its versatility makes it enjoyable year-round.
