Cabernet Franc is a black-skinned French wine grape variety that is grown worldwide. It is lighter and less tannic than its better-known cousin, Cabernet Sauvignon, and is traditionally used in blends, particularly in Bordeaux.
The Cabernet Franc varietal is quite versatile and can adapt to different weather conditions, although it prefers cooler climates. It tends to ripen earlier than Cabernet Sauvignon, which means it's less susceptible to harsh climate conditions.
In terms of flavor, Cabernet Franc tends to be more subtly fragrant and typically offers aromas of tobacco, raspberry, bell pepper, cassis, and violets.
