Chacolí de Álava, also known as Arabako Txakolina, is a type of Spanish white wine, specifically from the Basque region of Spain. It is one of three subregions of the Txakoli DO (Denominación de Origen), along with Biscay and Getaria.
This wine is typically light, acidic, and has a slight fizz. It is usually made from the indigenous Hondarribi Zuri and Hondarribi Beltza grapes, known for their high acidity and low alcohol content.
This wine is typically consumed young and pairs well with seafood and other Basque dishes. The cultivation of grapes for this wine is quite challenging given the region's cool, wet climate and steep vineyard sites, but the result is a refreshingly tart, crisp wine that is highly representative of its unique terroir.
