Description

The set of buildings that make up Bodegas de la Marquesa has an old part, formed by the centenary underground caves (more than 200 years old), excavated in the rock at a depth of 10 meters, where in a natural way a optimal and constant temperature and humidity throughout the year.

On the other hand, the winery has a series of modern air-conditioned warehouses, where all the production, aging and bottling processes are currently carried out with comfort and cleanliness.

For fermentation, stainless steel tanks are used , with automatic temperature control, of small capacity (from 8,000 to 30,000 l.), Which allow the separate production of the different grape varieties and make a better selection by farms and qualities . Epoxy resin-coated concrete tanks are also available , which are used for both manufacturing and storage.

The stock of barrels amounts to approximately 2,500 units, 70% American oak and 30% French oak of different origins and finishes, where our wines age slowly and acquire the aromas and flavors typical of aging in barrels, which will give them the finesse and elegance characteristic of Rioja wines , as well as a long potential for evolution.

Every year a significant percentage is renewed, buying French or American oak, depending on the one that best suits the characteristics of each vintage and the wine that is finally desired. Always with the aim of making the best aging and subsequent developments of our wines .
