Tre Venezie, also known as Triveneto or Le Tre Venezie, is a historical and geographical region in northeast Italy. The name refers to the "three Venices" which the area was traditionally divided into, namely Venezia Euganea (also known as Venezia Giulia), Venezia Tridentina (now Trentino-Alto Adige), and Venezia Euganea (now Veneto).
The region was named as such during the time of the Republic of Venice, which had extensive control over the area. However, the boundaries and composition of Tre Venezie have shifted over time due to various historical and political changes.
Today, Tre Venezie is known for its unique cultural heritage, with a blend of Venetian, Austrian, and Slavic influences. It is famous for its beautiful landscapes, architecture, food, and wine. The area includes the cities of Venice, Trento, and Trieste.
It is also notable for its diverse linguistic landscape, as the region comprises speakers of Italian, Venetian, German, Slovenian, and several other languages.
Despite the historical significance and the cultural richness of the region, the term "Tre Venezie" is not commonly used in contemporary Italy, as the area is now divided into the Veneto, Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol autonomous regions.
