Franciacorta is a region located in the Lombardy region of northern Italy, known for producing high-quality sparkling wines. The name "Franciacorta" has an interesting history as well. It derives from "Francae Curtes", which refers to small monastic communities that were freed from taxes during the Middle Ages, which allowed them to dedicate themselves to study and viticulture.
