Region del Valle Central

The Valle Central, also known as the Central Valley or Central Plateau, is a plateau located in the heart of Costa Rica. Covering about 77% of the country's population, it is the most populous region of Costa Rica.

The region comprises of four provinces: San José, Heredia, Alajuela, and Cartago. The region's capital and most populous city is San José, the capital of Costa Rica.

The Central Valley is surrounded by lush mountains and several volcanoes, including the active Irazú Volcano and Poás Volcano, providing picturesque views and rich fertile soils. The climate of the region is classified as tropical and subtropical highland, with warm temperatures during the day and cooler temperatures at night.

The Central Valley is the economic and cultural hub of Costa Rica. The majority of the nation's businesses, industries, and technology firms are located here. Agriculture is also prevalent in the region, with coffee and sugarcane being the primary crops.

The region is also a center for education and culture, hosting several universities, museums, theaters and other cultural sites. In addition, the Central Valley is home to a variety of biodiversity, including numerous species of birds, butterflies, and other wildlife, making it a popular destination for ecotourism.
