Dundee Hills

The Dundee Hills are located in Oregon's Northern Willamette Valley, well regarded as one of the premier wine-growing regions in the United States. They are particularly known for the high quality Pinot Noir wines that are produced there.

The area was officially designated as an American Viticultural Area (AVA) in 2005, although viticulture in the region dates back to the 1960s. The Dundee Hills are located around 28 miles southwest of Portland and encompass a total area of over 6,490 acres.

The region is characterized by its nutrient-rich, volcanic soil known as Jory, which is notable for its deep, well-draining properties. This soil, combined with the region’s relatively mild climate and considerable rainfall, makes it an ideal location for grape cultivation and wine production.

The Dundee Hills are also renowned for their picturesque and diverse scenery. With rolling hills, lush vineyards, and expansive views of the Willamette Valley and the Cascade Range, the area is a favorite destination for wine tourism. Visitors can enjoy wine tasting in the many wineries and vineyards, participate in wine tours and explore the stunning landscape.

In addition to wine production, the area is also known for its other agricultural products, including hazelnuts, hops, fruits, and vegetables.
