The Santa Maria Valley is a beautiful region located in Northern Santa Barbara County, on the Central Coast of California. It is known for its fertile soils and cool maritime climate, making it a premium location for wine growing and agricultural activities.
The valley is famous for producing some of the finest wines in California, particularly its cool-climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Also, Santa Maria Valley is renowned for its unique style of barbecue, known as Santa Maria-style barbecue, which originated in the mid 19th century. This barbecue style features beef tri-tip, seasoned with salt, pepper, and garlic salt before being grilled over a bed of California red oak.
Furthermore, the valley offers beautiful landscapes with rolling hills and a diversity of outdoor activities like hiking, bird watching, and horseback riding. Various wildlife could be seen in the Los Padres National Forest and the Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes.
