Muscat Ottonel

Muscat Ottonel is a white wine grape variety that is a member of the larger Muscat family of grapes. It is believed to have originated from France in the mid-19th century and is a cross of Chasselas and Muscat de Saumur.

This varietal is sensitive to frost and hence is cultivated mainly in cooler climates, including parts of Central Europe, Eastern United States, and Canada. It is also found in the wine regions of Australia, Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, and Hungary.

The wines produced from Muscat Ottonel are often light-bodied and semi-sweet, offering floral notes and delicate flavors of pear, lime, and white peach. The aroma is distinctly of Muscat grapes - fruity, sweet, and perfume-like. These wines typically have low acidity and are characterized by their aromatic, fresh, and fruity profile.

In terms of food pairings, Muscat Ottonel wines go well with spicy cuisine, light appetizers, and desserts, including those made with fruits and cream.
