Jurançon is not a grape varietal but a wine region in South West France, however, two main grape varietals are used to produce Jurançon wines: Gros Manseng and Petit Manseng. This region is famous for its sweet white wines. But the region also produces a dry white wine.
The characteristics of the wine depend on whether the wine is dry or sweet. Jurançon Sec (dry wine) is usually light-bodied, featuring crisp acidity with fresh and vibrant flavors of citrus, green apple, and pear. These wines tend to have a bright, refreshing quality to them.
On the other hand, the sweet Jurançon wines, which are often made from late harvest or noble rot grapes, have deep golden hues and rich, luscious flavors of tropical fruit, honey, and spices, balanced by a zesty acidity.
Despite being made from the same grape varieties, the dry and sweet versions of Jurançon can be remarkably different, demonstrating the versatility of Gros Manseng and Petit Manseng grapes.
