Blanc de Noir is not actually a varietal, but a French term meaning "white from blacks". It refers to a type of white wine that is made entirely from dark-skinned, or black, grape varietals. The most common grape varieties used in Blanc de Noir wines are Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, both of which are traditional grapes used in the production of Champagne.
The process of making Blanc de Noir involves pressing the grapes early and removing the skins before they have a chance to impart color to the juice. Despite being produced from black grapes, the wine is white or slightly pinkish in color.
Blanc de Noir wines typically exhibit a fuller, more robust flavor profile than white wines made from white grapes. They often have complex, fruity flavors with some richness and creaminess, and may show a hint of a red-fruit character.
