The Heart of Virginia Wine Trail is an association of six wineries located in the central region of Virginia. The trail features a blend of various vineyards and winery styles, providing visitors with a unique opportunity to taste a wide variety of wines in one trip. Each winery offers its own unique experience with tasting rooms, production facilities, and gift shops, amid beautiful settings of hilly landscapes and lush vineyards.
The six wineries on the trail are James River Cellars Winery, Grayhaven Winery, Cooper Vineyards, Mattaponi Winery, Fifty-Third Winery and Vineyard, and New Kent Winery. These wineries come together several times a year for special wine trail events.
Visitors to the Heart of Virginia Wine Trail can purchase a "Passport" card that gives access to a set number of tastings at each member winery, representing a solid deal for serious wine enthusiasts.
The Heart of Virginia Wine Trail showcases not just Virginia’s celebrated varietals but also the region’s commitment to viticulture and winemaking. It helps promote Virginia as a top wine destination, fostering growth and recognition for all the independent vineyards and wineries in the state. It essentially puts together the quality, diversity and hospitality that Virginia’s wine country has to offer.
