South West Australia is a region of Western Australia located on the southwest coast. The area covers approximately 140,000 square kilometers and includes several cities and towns such as Albany, Busselton, Bunbury, and the most populous city, Mandurah.
The region enjoys a Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers and wet winters. Its coastline boasts some of Australia’s most stunning beaches, which are ideal for surfing, swimming, and wildlife spotting, as well as the world-renowned Margaret River wine region.
The area is known for its unique biodiversity and many national parks, including the UNESCO-listed Western Australian Botanic Gardens and Kings Park. The ancient Tingle and Karri forests in the area have trees over 400 years old.
The South West is also a significant agricultural region, with dairy and viticulture industries playing a significant role in the local economy. The region's rich traditional custodians are the Noongar people, who have a history dating back over 50,000 years.
The Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park, Known for the Cape to Cape Track and whale-watching spots, is also located in this region, which has an array of underground caves such as Lake Cave and Mammoth Cave to explore. Also, this region is home to wildlife such as kangaroos, quokkas, dolphins, and many bird species which are a major attraction for tourists.
