South Burnett

South Burnett is a region found in the southern part of the Burnett River catchment which extends from the Bunya Mountains in the southwest to Mundubbera in the north in Queensland, Australia. It covers a sizeable area of about 8,399 km² and is home to roughly 33,000 people.

This region has a primarily agricultural economy, with the production of several key commodities such as peanuts, navy beans, sorghum, wheat, and corn. The area is also best known for its dairy production, beef, pork, and poultry industries as well as for fruits and vegetables.

One remarkable feature of the South Burnett region is its flourishing wine industry. The region has become one of Queensland's top wine-producing areas with numerous award-winning wineries.

South Burnett contains numerous small towns and localities, with Kingaroy considered the region's major commercial center. Other important towns include Wondai, Murgon, Nanango, and Blackbutt.

South Burnett promotes various tourist attractions as well including the aforementioned Bunya Mountains National Park, various wineries and cellar doors, the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail, the dams and lakes of Bjelke-Petersen and Boondooma, and a host of cultural and historical attractions.

The region has a comfortable subtropical climate, ensuring pleasant weather for locals and visitors alike.
