The Valencian Community, also known as Valencian Country, is an autonomous community of Spain located in the east and southeast of the Iberian Peninsula. It is the fourth most populous autonomous community after Andalusia, Catalonia and Madrid with more than five million inhabitants. Its homonymous capital Valencia is the third largest city and metropolitan area in Spain.
This community is divided into three provinces which are Castellón, Valencia and Alicante. It borders with Catalonia to the north, Aragon and Castile–La Mancha to the west, and Murcia to the south. The Valencian Community is a major tourist destination with popular attractions such as the City of Arts and Sciences, the Terra Mítica park, and beautiful coastal locations like Costa Blanca and Costa del Azahar.
The region has a mixed economy with agriculture, tourism, and industries such as textiles, footwear, and ceramics playing a big role. It has a distinct culture, with its own traditions and a regional language, which is Valencian, a variety of the Catalan language. The fallas festival, celebrated in March every year, is one of the most popular cultural events in the region.
The Valencian Community has a Mediterranean climate with long, hot summers and mild winters, perfect for beach and outdoor activities. Its rich history is reflected in its numerous castles, fortresses, and historic old towns.
