Pago de Arínzano is a distinguished and historic vineyard in Spain recognized for its premium quality wines. The property, located in the north-east of Spain between Rioja and Bordeaux, has been associated with viticulture since the 11th century when Sancho Fortuñones de Arínzano initiated the cultivation of vines. It is famously known for being the first estate in North of Spain awarded the prestigious Vino de Pago status, Spain’s highest category for winemaking.
This vineyard, with nearly 355 acres of vineyard plantings, produces world-renowned wines using modern wine-making techniques. The vineyard's location benefits from a unique microclimate, protected by the Sierra de Codes mountains and located along the Ega river.
The property was acquired by the Chivite family, one of Spain's oldest wine-making families, who restored and modernized the wine estate. The vineyard produces a range of excellent wines such as Vino de Pago wines, Arínzano Gran Vino, and Hacienda de Arínzano wines. These wines are crafted from a blend of local grape varieties, including Tempranillo, Merlot, and Chardonnay, and are greatly appreciated by wine enthusiasts for their elegance, balance, and consistency.
