Dragash or Dragashan is a town and municipality located in the Prizren District of Kosovo. Situated in the southernmost part of the country, it is in the Šar Mountains, near the border with North Macedonia and Albania. The town covers an area of around 435.22 square kilometers and had a population of over 33,000 as of the latest census.
Dragash is known for its beautiful and unspoiled natural landscapes, with a rich diversity of flora and fauna. The major economic activities in the town include agriculture, livestock, trade, and services. The community is predominantly of Gorani and Albanian ethnicity, both of which have rich cultural heritages reflected in the town's customs and traditions.
The town is divided into two main parts, Opoja and Gora, which are distinguished by their unique geographical features. Opoja is larger and more populated, consisting mainly of Albanian ethnicity, while Gora is smaller, mountainous, and inhabits mostly the Gorani community.
Despite being one of the less developed regions in Kosovo, Dragash is a place with immense potential for ecotourism, thanks to its natural beauty.
It's important to note that the political status of Kosovo is the subject of a long-standing dispute, with Serbia not recognizing it as an independent state.
