Dealurile Moldovei, also known as The Moldavian Plateau or Moldavian Hills, is a geographic area in Eastern Romania. It covers most of the region of Moldavia, stretching from the Carpathian Mountains to the Prut River.
This plateau is characterized by its varied terrain, featuring a series of hills, low mountains, and valleys. It has an average elevation of 500-600 meters, with the highest point reaching approximately 800 meters.
The area is primarily composed of sedimentary rocks, including sandstones, clay, and limestone, which have been shaped by erosion over time. Its varied topography has led to a rich diversity of flora and fauna.
The Moldavian Plateau is known for its picturesque landscapes, with rolling hills covered in forests, vineyards, and farmlands. It has a temperate continental climate, with warm summers and cold winters.
The region's fertile soil and favorable climate make it ideal for agriculture. Notably, it's one of Romania's most important wine-producing areas. Numerous vineyards and wineries are scattered across the hills, contributing significantly to the region's economy.
