Colline Novaresi is a wine region located in the Piedmont area of Northwest Italy. It was given Denominazione di Origine Controllata (DOC) status in 1994. This region is known for producing a range of red, white, and rosé wines, including Colline Novaresi Nebbiolo and Colline Novaresi Vespolina.
The vineyards in this region are situated on hills and influenced by the temperate climate of the Alps and the Mediterranean. The soils are predominantly glacial moraine and alluvial, which contribute to the distinctive characteristics of the wines.
The majority of wines produced in the Colline Novaresi are red, made from Nebbiolo grapes, also locally known as Spanna. These wines are noted for their powerful structure, high acidity, and strong tannins. Meanwhile, the white wines are made predominantly from Erbaluce grapes which are often made into sweet passito wines and sparkling spumante wines.
The Colline Novaresi region also produces a rosé called Nebbiolo Rosato, and occasional sparkling and late-harvest wines. These varieties make Colline Novaresi a versatile wine-producing area, popular among enthusiasts and collectors worldwide.
