The Colli Cimini (Cimini Hills) are a range of densely wooded volcanic hills located in the Lazio region of Italy. They are situated in the heart of the ancient Etruscan lands, to the north-west of Rome and about 35 km south of Viterbo. The highest peak is Mt. Cimino with a height of 1053 metres.
The main towns located in these hills are Canepina, Soriano nel Cimino, and Caprarola. The area is famous for its chestnut forests and is a part of the Lake Vico Natural reserve, which is often visited to observe local flora and fauna. These hills are part of a vast volcanic complex that also includes the Sabatini Mountains and the Vulsini Mountains.
The area is rich in history and culture, with numerous archeological sites, medieval villages, palaces and monasteries. Its landscape is dominated by beech and horse chestnut trees, along with numerous streams that create a lush, green environment, attracting numerous tourists and nature lovers to this region.
The Colli Cimini offers plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities such as hiking, horseback riding, and biking, as well as local gastronomy, which includes local specialties like chestnuts, mushrooms, and wines.
