Cirò is a small town and commune found in the province of Crotone, within the region of Calabria in southern Italy. It is located on the Ionian Sea, known for its clear blue waters and picturesque landscapes.

The town is among the oldest and most significant wine-producing areas in Calabria, predominately known for its Cirò DOC – a Designation of Controlled Origin status awarded to wines that satisfy rigorous quality standards and a specific production method. The locally grown Gaglioppo grape is often used to produce these full-bodied red wines.
Historically, Cirò has strong links to Greek colonization in Italy and claims to have been producing wine since the 6th century BC. The wine was said to be served to victorious athletes in Ancient Olympics.
