Cabardès

Cabardès is a small wine-producing area in France found in the Languedoc-Roussillon region. Known for its unique blend of Atlantic (Bordeaux) and Mediterranean (Rhone) grapes, it is the only Languedoc appellation that allows both Bordeaux and Rhône varieties.

The region spans the southern slopes of the Montagne Noire, with vineyards located at an altitude of between 200 to 400 meters. The wines produced here are characteristically full-bodied and intense, ready to be enjoyed as a young wine but also possessing a good potential for aging.

Named an Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) in 1999, the Cabardès wine region is famed for its wines that beautifully balance power and softness. The blend of Bordeaux grape varieties like Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon with Mediterranean varieties like Syrah and Grenache produce a unique flavor profile that the region is known for.

Besides viticulture, the Cabardès region is also known for its rich history involving the Cathars, medieval castles, and beautiful landscapes.
