Coteaux du Tricastin is a French wine-growing AOC (Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée) in the Rhône wine region of southeastern France, around the town of Tricastin. It is renowned for a variety of wines, including red, white, and rosé. It is notably one of the 16 Côtes du Rhône Villages AOC, a designation given to the most superior wines of the region.
The vineyards of Coteaux du Tricastin span over 3200 hectares, producing mainly Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault and Mourvèdre grapes for red and rosé wines, and Grenache Blanc, Clairette and Bourboulenc for white wines. This region's wine is recognized for its roundness, and aromas of red fruits, spices, along with light woody and vegetal undertones for red wine, and floral, fruity nuances for white wine.
In 2010, Coteaux du Tricastin was renamed to Grignan-les-Adhémar. This change resulted mainly from the negative association with the Tricastin name following several industrial incidents at the Tricastin Nuclear Power Center, which shares the region but is unrelated to the winemaking activities.
Coteaux du Tricastin wines pair well with various foods, including red and white meat, game, poultry, cheeses, and even fish, thanks to its well-balanced acidity.
