Château Grillet is a world-renowned French wine estate situated in the northern Rhone wine region in Condrieu. It is one of only three vineyards in France that has its own appellation contrôlée, meaning it is recognized for producing high-quality wines under strict regulations.
The Château Grillet estate features a historic castle surrounded by seven hectares of vineyards. The area is known for its unique climate and granitic and mica-rich soils, perfect for growing Viognier grape variety. The grapes are handpicked and carefully fermented and aged in oak barrels to produce rich wine characterized by an elegant blend of exotic fruit flavors and subtle floral notes.
Over the centuries, the estate has changed hands several times. One of its most notable owners was the Neyret-Gachet family, who spent almost two centuries refining the distillation, breeding, and viticulture techniques that made the estate's reputation. In 2011, Château Grillet was acquired by Francois Pinault, a prominent French businessman.
Château Grillet also shares its name with the wine it produces. The wine from this estate is widely popular for its distinct style and rarity. Château Grillet wine is often praised for having a sublime balance of mineral, floral and fruity elements which gives its a distinct taste.
