Ajaccio is the capital city of Corsica, a French island in the Mediterranean Sea. It is located on the west coast of the island and is the largest settlement on Corsica. Ajaccio has a population of around 70,000 people.
The city is most famous for being the birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte in 1769, and his ancestral home, Maison Bonaparte, is now a museum dedicated to the history of the Bonaparte family.
