Corton is a small village located in the northeastern part of the county of Suffolk, England. This village is in close proximity to the North Sea and has a rich history dating back to the Domesday Book, a record of the great survey of much of England completed in 1086.
More specifically, Corton is recognized in the wine world as an Appellation d'origine Contrôlée (AOC) for red and white wine in Côte de Beaune subregion of Burgundy in France. Both Corton (red) and Corton-Charlemagne (white) wines are highly regarded and produced in the communes of Aloxe-Corton, Pernand-Vergelesses and Ladoix. The Corton wines are known for their robustness and longevity, while the Corton-Charlemagne wines are recognized for their rich and opulent Chardonnay flavors.
