Chambertin-Clos de Bèze is a Grand Cru vineyard for red wine located in the Burgundy region in France. This vineyard is specifically in the Côte de Nuits subregion and the village of Gevrey-Chambertin. It is one of the nine Grand Cru vineyards in Gevrey-Chambertin, covering approximately 15 hectares.
The wines produced here are primarily made from Pinot Noir grapes. A small fraction of white and rosé wines, made from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, are also produced, but these are rare.
Chambertin-Clos de Bèze is often considered one of the greatest wine vineyards in the world, and the wines are known for their complexity, depth and intensity of flavour. They typically display a rich bouquet of black and red fruit, liquorice, and spices, with a sturdy structure and capacity for long ageing.
The vineyard has a history dating back to the 7th century, making it one of the oldest in the region. The name comes from the Clos de Bèze monastery which owned the land in the Middle Ages. The quality of the wines from Chambertin-Clos de Bèze resulted in it being one of the first vineyards to be classified as a Grand Cru in the 1930s.
Several prominent winemakers produce wines from Chambertin-Clos de Bèze, including Maison Louis Jadot, Domaine Armand Rousseau and Domaine Faiveley.
