Moulis en Medoc is a prestigious wine-producing region located in the locale of Médoc, in Bordeaux, France. It is the smallest of the six appellations in Médoc, lying around 20 miles north of Bordeaux. This area does not have any classified châteaux unlike its surrounding areas, but it is famous for producing some of Médoc’s most captivating and reasonably priced wines.
The terrain of Moulis en Medoc comprises quite a lot of gravel, which is ideal for the cultivation of Cabernet Sauvignon, the primary grape variety used in the region's red wines. The wines from this region are known for being tannic, deeply colored, and full-bodied, with typical notes of blackcurrant, plum, tobacco, and cedar.
Moulis en Medoc wines are quite popular globally and are aged for several years to temper their tannins and realize their full flavor profile. They pair well with various kinds of meat dishes, cheese, and other savories due to their rich, intense, and complex taste.
Two of the most notable vineyards from this region are Chateau Chasse-Spleen and Chateau Poujeaux.
