Central Florida, the central region of the state of Florida, comprises of the middle section of the state, and includes popular cities such as Orlando, Lakeland, and Ocala. Central Florida is most known for its tourist attractions, particularly Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando Resort, SeaWorld Orlando and the Kennedy Space Center.
Geographically, the region varies from coastal landscapes at the eastern and western edges to vibrant wildlife in its national parks, like Everglades National Park and Ocala National Forest. It's also home to acres of orange groves, a significant part of the state's economy. Additionally, the region possesses a tropical climate with high temperatures, heavy rainfall, and frequent hurricanes.
The region is also home to numerous colleges and universities, including the University of Central Florida, which is the largest university campus by student enrollment in the U.S. Central Florida also boasts rich cultural diversity, with a blend of northern and southern culture, as well as Caribbean and Latin American influences.
In terms of transportation, Central Florida is served by several highways including I-4 and I-75, and Amtrak provides passenger rail service with major stations in Orlando and Tampa. In terms of air travel, Orlando International Airport is one of the busiest airports in the U.S.
Moreover, Central Florida has a vibrant sports scene with professional teams like the Orlando Magic in the NBA and Orlando City SC in Major League Soccer. It's also known for the annual Citrus Bowl college football game and it hosts MLB spring training for various teams.
