The Colorado Front Range is a series of mountain ranges located in the west-central portion of the state of Colorado in the United States. It is part of the larger Southern Rocky Mountains and includes among its many peaks the highest summit in the central Rocky Mountains.
This mountain range spans over two hundred miles from the Arkansas River Valley near the Colorado-New Mexico border northwards to the Wind River Range in Wyoming. The Front Range runs parallel to the Great Plains in eastern Colorado and merges with the Wyoming Range in the north.
Some of the prominent peaks in the Colorado Front Range include Mount Evans, Pikes Peak, and Longs Peak. The area is also home to numerous cities and towns, including Denver, Boulder, Fort Collins, and Colorado Springs. These urban areas often referred to as the "Front Range Urban Corridor," are spread along the eastern edge of the mountains and are home to around 85% of Colorado's population.

Despite its picturesque landscapes, Colorado Front Range also faces significant environmental issues due to urban development and recreational land use, including forest health concerns, water availability issues, and wildfires. Climate plays a crucial role in these challenges, particularly as it influences wildfire behavior, forest health, and future water availability.
