Amador County, often referred to as the "Heart of the Mother Lode," is a county in the U.S. state of California, situated toward the Northern Central region. It occupies an area of approximately 606 square miles and, as of 2020, had a population of roughly 38,000 people. Its largest city and county seat is Jackson.
