Carneros, also known as Los Carneros, is a world-renowned wine region located in both Napa Valley and Sonoma County in California. It is known for its cool, maritime climate and its exceptional production of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and sparkling wine. Carneros stretches over 90 square miles and is greatly influenced by the fog and cool winds from the nearby San Pablo Bay.
The region is distinguished by its uniform temperatures throughout the growing season and its early ripening schedule. Its characteristic Shallow and clay heavy soils have made it a favorable spot for vineyards.
Carneros was designated as an American Viticultural Area (AVA) in 1983, making it one of the first wine regions in California to be officially recognized for its unique geographical and climatic characteristics.
Aside from its wine production, Carneros also boasts spectacular scenery, with rolling hillsides, sprawling vineyards, and stunning bay views. The region has several wineries that offer tasting tours and other tourist attractions.
