Known for its hot springs, wineries, and almond orchards, it's a key player in the state's agricultural industry. Covering an area of nearly 20 square miles, and with an estimated population of about 30,000, it's considered a relatively small city.
Paso Robles is nestled roughly halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco, making it a convenient midpoint for travelers. The city's name translates to "Pass of the Oaks", a nod to the many oak trees that can be found in the area.
It's particularly famous for its wine production, with over 200 wineries in the Paso Robles AVA (American Viticultural Area). The region is known for its Zinfandel, but many other varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Chardonnay are also produced there.
