Wild Horse Valley is a small and exquisite valley located in Napa County, California, United States. It consists of picturesque landscapes amidst the dense forests and rolling hills, making it an idyllic location for vineyards. Known for its cooler and windier climate, the valley is popular for cultivating unique grapes, giving birth to some fantastic wines which are distinct with a bright, rich flavor compared to other surrounding regions.
Wild Horse Valley is one of the least talked about American Viticultural Areas in Napa, mainly due to its remote location. It lies on the eastern side of Napa and to the west of Solano County, up from Green Valley.
This region has been established as an AVA (American Viticultural Area) since 1988. Most vineyards in the valley are high above sea level - around 700 to 3100 feet that brings a cooler temperature which is perfect for developing higher acid levels in wines.
Apart from the beauty and wine production, Wild Horse Valley is also home to an array of wildlife, including its namesake, wild horses, which used to roam freely in this region. These characteristics combined give Wild Horse Valley a peaceful and rustic charm that makes it a precious hidden gem in Napa County.
