Valdiguié is a red wine grape variety that originated in Southwestern France but are now also grown in California where it is often known as 'Napa Gamay.' This grape is known for its large deep purple clusters. Valdiguié produces light-to-medium bodied wines, similar to Beaujolais, that are fruity with notes of cherry, strawberry, and raspberry, as well as subtle floral notes. The acidity is usually high, offering a freshness to the wine, while tannins are generally low. These wines can sometimes show a touch of sweetness and are often best enjoyed relatively young.
