Monbazillac

Monbazillac is a sweet white wine region in southwest of France, located in the Bordeaux wine region. It's best known for producing high-quality dessert wines from Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle grape varieties. These wines are often compared to Sauternes, but are typically available at a fraction of the price.

The wines of Monbazillac have a bright golden color and are rich in flavors of honey, marmalade and ripe tropical fruits, with often a hint of spice. They are typically quite luscious and sweet, with enough acidity to balance the sugar, and can be incredibly long-lived.

Monbazillac is also the name of a village, situated on the left bank of the Dordogne river. It is home to the Chateau de Monbazillac, a 16th-century old historical chateau with panoramic views of the Dordogne valley, which is now owned by the Monbazillac Cellars Company and is open to visitors where they can tour the facility and see how the wine is made.

Monica di Sardegna

Monica di Sardegna is a type of red wine produced in the Mediterranean island of Sardinia, Italy. The grape used for this wine, 'Monica', is believed to have been brought to Sardinia by the Spanish in the 14th century. "di Sardegna" means "from Sardinia" in Italian.

The Monica di Sardegna is characteristically ruby red in color, and its taste reflects its Mediterranean heritage and the Sardinian soil, often characterized by medium-bodied, with notes of ripe red fruits, hints of herbs and a particularly soft and balanced structure. It is known for its fresh and fruity aromas, with hints of spices and herbs.

The wine is sometimes compared to Beaujolais Nouveau for its fruitiness, but it usually comes with more body and complexity due to its warm growing conditions. It is traditionally paired with typical Sardinian dishes, such as roast meats, game, and mature cheeses.

Monica di Sardegna received DOC certification (Denominazione di Origine Controllata) in 1979, which is a classification guaranteeing the quality and origin of Italian wines. There are two variations of Monica di Sardegna, one that is a lighter style and typically around 11.5% alcohol, and a stronger version with higher tannins and a fuller body.
