Description

Nestled at the base of the picturesque Sellicks Hill and surrounded by sweeping ranges, this cellar door boasts breathtaking views. Visitors are treated to a panorama of rural landscapes, with glimpses of the vast ocean stretching to the horizon in the west.

The charming little house has been lovingly renovated and features rustic landscaping that extends into a spacious red brick paved courtyard. This inviting space offers the perfect setting to unwind, soak in the vineyard's tranquil atmosphere, and savor the moment.

Designed for enjoyment, relaxation, and creating lasting memories, the venue is ideal for hosting a variety of events. Whether it's a function, wedding, or a group wine and food experience, the team can cater to any occasion, from casual gatherings to elegant fine dining affairs.

A magnificent wood-fired oven takes center stage, promising delicious pizzas, roasts, and baked treats. Beyond the courtyard, a sprawling lawn provides ample space for gazebos, parties, and all sorts of fun activities.

For a truly unique experience, guests can join a barrel tasting in "The Shed." Here, they can sample wines of various styles and vintages directly from the barrels, guided by the knowledgeable Paul. This immersive tour has earned "The Shed" a stellar reputation for offering one of McLaren Vale's most memorable wine tastings.

The story of "The Shed" began when the Piombo family acquired a property in Sellicks Hill, McLaren Vale, and transformed it into a vineyard. Two passionate wine enthusiasts, driven by their love for the craft, quickly converted one of the sheds into a micro-winery.

As word of the exceptional wine produced in "The Shed" spread, it became a gathering place for friends, fellow wine lovers, and enthusiasts. Tasting from barrel to barrel while discussing the nuances of each wine became a cherished ritual. Visitors often found themselves lost in time, their enjoyment only interrupted by the occasional call from a concerned spouse.

The importance of wine in this venture is deeply rooted in family tradition. When Paul met his future wife, Angela, he discovered the significant role wine played in the life of her Italian-born father, Modestino Piombo. Soon, Paul found himself accompanying Modestino on trips to McLaren Vale in his HZ Kingswood ute to gather Grenache grapes. Back in suburban Adelaide, they would transform these grapes into wine in Modestino's work shed, forging a strong bond and a shared passion for winemaking. This unique experience laid the foundation for the creation of "The Shed," a testament to their love for grapes, wine, and the simple joy of sharing a good bottle with friends.
