Baron Zu Knyphausen

The winery Baron Knyphausen - with its world famous locations such as theErbacher Marcobrunn , Erbacher Siegelsberg or Hattenheimer Wisselbrunnen - one of the most important wineries in Germany and is a member of since 1972 VDP Rheingau [Association of German predicate wineries] and a founding member of the Charter Association. The vineyards are planted with 85% Riesling, 10% Pinot Noir and indigenous grape varieties such as Riesling Red, Yellow and White Heunisch Orleans. The production volume of the winery is about 130,000 bottles per year.

By switching to organic cultivation and the introduction of more stringent quality criteria in the vineyard has been able to produce already in the year 2009 an outstanding range in Germany, not least through the careful use of oak barrels. Most notable here is the assessment of the Riesling First Location Erbacher 2009 from the Steinmorgen with 95 points in Wine Spectator. The stone was this morning - elected in the presence of almost all of the national wine elite for the most significant German dry Riesling of the vintage - along with two other wines.
