We craft wines that represent a stylistic bridge between the Old and New worlds, capturing the finesse associated with European wines while celebrating the bold natural flavors of our estate vineyards in Paso Robles. Here, owner proprietor Hans Nef and managing partner Hans – R. Michel bring their Swiss heritage to California’s Central Coast, where they aim to unite the best of both experiences.
We specialize in varieties that excel in the complex soils and nuanced microclimates of Paso Robles, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Syrah, Petite Sirah, Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc and others. We also embrace unconventional blends as an opportunity to create wines of distinctive quality and character.
Our winemaking approach emphasizes structure and balance, harnessing our rich Paso Robles fruit with grace and food friendliness. The resulting wines exhibit ripe flavors with polished tannins and fresh natural acidity.
The Vina Robles story begins in 1997, when the Nef family planted the first of what would become four estate vineyards in Paso Robles—Jardine, Pleasant Valley, Creston Valley and Huerhuero. Today, the cornerstone of our estate program is Huerhuero Vineyard, where the rolling oak-studded hills reach an elevation of 1,030 feet. This site boasts multidimensional growing conditions that enable us to optimize the ripening of each varietal.
A fifth vineyard, Adelaida Springs Ranch, was recently added. Here, in the rugged coastal mountains at an elevation of 1,700 feet, 12 miles from the Pacific, we grow Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot for our award-winning Suendero blend and other Cuvée Collection wines.
Our wines are available across the United States and overseas, and can be enjoyed at our hospitality center in the heart of the Paso Robles wine country, where we host a variety of public and private events throughout the year, including weddings, business meetings, concerts and wine appreciation seminars. Please visit us soon to experience the Vina Robles difference.
