Description

Their goal is clear: to make the New World's Best Pinot Noir. In doing so, they hope to seriously challenge the greatest Burgundies that have dominated premium Pinot Noir production since the 13th century. Their approach is one of meticulous stewardship of ancient tradition that often means bowing to nature's whims combined with innovative techniques that serve to only enhance what nature has given us.

Their name, Clos de la Tech (Klō deh lah Tĕk), was inspired by the great Burgundy Houses of France that often use the word 'Clos' - meaning 'enclosed area' - in their names and for the tech industry that thrives below their mountaintop vineyards.

The winery is located at the Domaine Lois Louise vineyard. The winery is in three caves, each 30 feet wide, 30 feet high and 300 feet deep. The caves are stepped down the hillside to accommodate our gravity flow winemaking. They were dug four feet at a time, and then immediately reinforced with shotcrete to prevent cave-ins.
