Cinque Stelle Winery

<p>Cinque Stelle Winery and Boutique is one of the new kids on the block in Los Olivos.  It is owned and operated by the Crist Family.  Cinque Stelle (cheen-kweh stell- lay) translates to “five star” in Italian.  The name was inspired with the intent of each star representing one of the five members in the Crist family. The family’s wines reflect a passion shared by all five members from the farming to winemaking process.</p>
<p>Growing up in the central coast, winemaker, Matthew Crist, has a genuine respect for the unique land and climate the Santa Ynez Valley offers.  The twelve-year-old vineyard is located west of Refugio Road and north of the Santa Ynez River.  This location offers a very unique microclimate associated with its proximity to the base of the Santa Ynez Mountains and a stone’s throw from the river.  The foggy mornings, warm sunny days and cool evenings provide an environment conducive to producing premium fruit from each grape variety specifically selected for this microclimate. </p>
<p>The Crist family purchased this established vineyard in 2007.  They decided to continue producing ultra-premium fruit for their own use, as well as, many local esteemed winemakers.  By utilizing hand-farming techniques the Crist’s are able to control the vineyard in a manner that enables them to produce the highest quality product year after year.  This attention to detail continues to influence their winemaking philosophy.</p>
<p>Matthew produces small lot production wines from their estate C5 vineyard specializing in Albarino, Tempranillo, Pinot Grigio and Syrah.  These varietals offer wine connoisseurs some different flavor profiles uncommon within the Santa Ynez Valley.   Cinque Stelle also offers other varietals, which are sourced exclusively from Central Coast vineyards. By keeping the lots small Matthew is able to transfer all the attention the family puts into the vineyard directly to his wines. His philosophy is that the wine is made in the vineyard and it is his job to allow the fruit to speak for itself. </p>
<p>In August 2012 Cinque Stelle opened their tasting room and boutique in the wonderful little town of Los Olivos.  Matthew’s sister, Natalie, manager of the tasting room and boutique, has created a comfortable European atmosphere for their patrons.  With Natalie’s love for fashion, Cinque Stelle has expanded upon the typical wine tasting experience.</p>
