Belogradchik

Naches Heights is an American Viticultural Area (AVA) located in Yakima County, Washington. This wine region is situated on a volcanic plateau and is known for its unique soil composition containing high levels of volcanic ash, that adds distinct flavors to the wines produced here.
The area spans about 13,254 acres, and despite its size, only a handful of vineyards operate in the region, making it a relatively small but notable wine-producing area in Washington. The region has a cooler climate compared to other Yakima Valley wine regions, which provides a longer growing season that is particularly well suited for growing a wide range of grape varieties.
Mostly, the vineyards in Naches Heights are located at high elevations, ranging from 1,200 to 2,100 feet, which protect them from frost and allow for more sun exposure. This combination of factors allows grapes to ripen evenly and maintain their acidity, leading to well-balanced and complex wines.
Some of the grape varieties grown in the area include Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Riesling, and Chardonnay.
The Naches Heights AVA also claims to be a fully sustainable wine-growing region, with all vineyards using organic or biodynamic farming methods, contributing to more sustainable and environmentally friendly wine production.
The region is adjacent to the town of Yakima, making it a great destination for wine tourists visiting the area.
